Alistair Reed is a geologist with more than 25 years experience mapping and documenting earth science related projects on every continent. Dr Reed is passionate not just about rocks, but also about processes operating on landscapes now and in the past. That extends to our own history and to understanding how we have interacted (and continue to interact) with the landscape, and to recognising meaning in the impressions we leave behind.

QMap aims to bring the stories captured in rocks and landscapes to life in maps, pictures and research. These studies might form the basis for locating minerals, for the management of assets, to improve productivity or simply to document and communicate a story.

At the core of QMap is QGIS. QGIS is an open source Geographic Information System (GIS). A GIS allows for the organisation, display and analysis of spatial data, including maps and, well, just about anything you can link to a location. Open Source means that it is free to obtain and use which makes it an increasingly viable alternative for businesses and individuals to commercial alternatives.    

Qmap Asia is a subsidiary of Qmap Australia. Dr Reed is a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists and has acted as ‘Competent Person’ for the purposes of public company reporting.
